In our journey as parents of school going children, we can encounter some rough patches!

These can take the form of your child struggling academically, socially in their friendships, in their sports/cultural activities or even emotionally.

When we start to hear from the school about this, we are not always sure of how best we can make “the problem” go away and get back to our “pre-problem” days.

We go through many emotions, may experience denial and even fret and stress about how our child will turn out.

In my talk, given at the Pecha Kucha, Johannesburg, Vol 36, event last week, I shared one of my own such journeys, as a mom of a primary school child at the time.

A journey of finding myself, as a parent in a rough patch and how I navigated the situation to turn it around and get to a far better place than before.

As parents, it is always worth remembering that you do have it in you to support your child to navigate their challenges so that they do come out thriving.
